Privacy Policy & Data Protection 

Personal information provided by you is held for the following purposes:   

  1. For communication with you about the research commission 

  2. For the purposes of family history research 

  3. Invoicing, accounting and processing payments  

I recommend that photocopies or digital copies of documents are sent to me.  

The transmittance of data from you to me is at your own risk and I cannot accept liability for damage or loss of items during transmission, during storage by me or when returning them to you.  

Your personal information will be held, electronically and on paper, in the strictest confidence and will not be shared with any third party unless instructed to do so.  All information will be held on a computer secured with a password or if in paper form securely stored.  Information will be held for as long as necessary to complete the research and will be deleted on your request or after a period of 5 years whichever is the lesser.  

This does not guarantee all information will be retained after the research has terminated if lost due to computer error or other unforeseen circumstances. 

It is a HMRC obligation to retain contact details on paying clients for five years.  You have the right to withdraw your contact details at any time.  Subject to the requirements of the HMRC, you have the right to request that your information is erased from my database.
