About me

My name is Mandy. I started researching family histories in 2012; and shortly afterwards began the first of my many and ongoing genealogical studies.

After more than 35 years working as a Senior Executive Assistant to some of the City’s top Global Bankers, I am now following my passion and working in Family History, using the skills and experience I developed during my career to provide you with a first-class 1:1 service that combines efficiency and thoroughness with warmth and friendliness.

I passed both the Pharos Family History Skills & Strategies Intermediate and Advanced Genealogy Certificates (Family History Skills & Strategies) with distinction.

My own family research encompasses England, Wales, Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, Canada and the U.S.A.; but in the course of my client work I also have some experience of researching in Northern Ireland, Wales, Poland and Australia.

I can help with all aspects of your family history and DNA research including producing a family tree, breaking down brickwalls, using DNA to identify unknown parent(s) or grandparent(s) or even verifying your own research. I offer one-to-one tutorials, help with transcriptions, an archive look-up service (as well as accompanied visits if required) and house histories. Read more about the services I offer.

I have a strong interest in Military History and have visited numerous battlefields, memorials and Commonwealth War Graves throughout France and Belgium and also some in Germany and Italy.

I’m heavily involved in the Genealogy community with memberships of the Society of Genealogists as well as various Family History Societies.  I’m a strong believer in Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) and I continue to study with Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies ("IHGS"), in an attempt to extend my genealogical knowledge further and to keep abreast of current developments and record releases in the Genealogy world.

I run three hugely popular Genealogy Facebook Groups – one focused on general genealogy, another which is DNA specific and a third which is RootsTech related - with a combined total membership of just under 30,000.

Finally, my previous career means that I have a thorough understanding of the need for professionalism, confidentiality, discretion, accurate and complete record-keeping, data-handling and the importance of industry regulations relating to the use of data and storing of client information and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
